Fingerprinted Shades

Here's how I paint a pair of sunglasses. Step 1: Disassemble.

Step 2: Mask off all areas that touch the skin and mechanical parts.

Step 3: Sand with 400 grit sandpaper, clean thoroughly, then apply primer. Note how I'm holding them. After that, I applied the white base coat.

Prepped and ready for Fingerprinting. The customer chose Black,  Red, and White.

Step 4: Carefully applied the 'Fingerprint' using a liner brush and acrylic paint.  It is important to get the paint viscosity just right: not too runny, not too thick.

Step 5: Apply lacquer to all the pieces, take the tape off; then reassemble. The hardest part is getting the lenses back in without taking the paint off. And here's the results! A truly awesome pair of 'one-off' sunglasses that still retain a factory look. The process takes about 12 hours.

Manifest Destiny

This is my latest larger painting, "Manifest Destiny".  It is a self portrait inside one of the first dreams I remember. This is not the best pic, but the pics below will give you some insight on the scope of the detail itself.  This took me several months to paint between working 6 days a week at another job and other art projects.  24"x36". Acrylic and India ink on canvas.

Here's a pic of both the house, Fingerprinted sky and the unfinished underpainting sketch.

Here's a couple of past Phish fan art posters I made. The original master painting was donated to Phish's Waterwheel Foundation.

Halloween fan art poster. The original 18x24" drawing was donated to the Waterwheel Foundation.

I did this one in conjunction with Conscious Alliance and Dark Star Orchestra.  All proceeds went to charity.

Original 18x24" pen and ink linework panel.

The following is a small collection of past SOLARiS show posters....having some fun in Photoshop :)

I made this small recreation of Roy Lichtenstien's "Cubist Still Life" (1974), but with a small Fingerprint twist. 8x12" Acrylic on recycled board.

"Diamond in the Rough".  I painted this depiction of a cold, homeless night I endured a long time ago. 20x30".  Mixed   media on black illustration board.

Note the deconstructed Fingerprinting in the background...

"Immortality".  I am obsessed with the concept of Renaissance Art and Engineering. This drawing represents what happens to a person who undergoes the process of cryonic re-animation (which has yet to ever be performed....)  The "Secret of Immortality" is written in backwards binary code.  15"x22".  Sepia pen and graphite on distressed paper.

Black variant for a future poster screen printing project.

I play bass guitar in the music group SOLARiS Trio. Here is the original pen and ink drawing I did for the cover of our 1st EP, Beyond 3-D.
Shred.

And the final color result. This came out out lookin sweet!
Here is a recent ladies' T-Shirt Desgin logo I did.

"God's Eye". Original pen and ink drawing.

I used the image to make this poster for the Binghamtronica Music & Arts Festival in Upstate NY.
